Amlodipine is called a calcium channel blocker used to prevent certain types of chest pain (angina). It may help to increase your ability to exercise and decrease the frequency of angina attacks. When used for angina, this medication must be taken regularly to be effective.

How to use Norvasc

For adult patients, the regular Norvasc dosage is five milligrams per day as a starting dose, and ten milligrams per day if this is the only drug used for the treatment of hypertension. If you cannot swallow a whole tablet, you may cut it in half to make swallowing easier. The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, body size, and response to therapy. Norvasc Precautions
